Description
ANTIQUE 1817 BRASS PHILADELPHIA ASSOCIATION FIRE MARK FIREMAN'S INSURANCE PLAQUE. The Fire Association of Philadelphia was an insurance company founded in 1817 by a group of eleven volunteer engine companies and five volunteer hose companies. A percentage of the Fire Association’s insurance company’s profits were distributed to the volunteer companies. The F.A. fire mark was extremely popular in its day. I don't know if the 1817 is an actual date or if it was a house number this is made of brass and very old has one green spot on the bottom left and it appears that it was pulled off of a house and put as a plaque. MISSING TWO NAILS IN THE PLAQUE. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Offers accepted.
